Bent Law Legal Services

72 Ross St Unit 2
Barrie, ON    L3V 7N6

Paralegal delivering Legal Services, and Notary services, mediation experience.

I have been fortunate to grow up learning a lot of my indigenous heritage, and what it all means. It has been an amazing journey and one I am blessed with.  I work in various matters concerning indigenous related law  that have taught me a lot in that process of getting there. (i.e. small claims, and criminal notably).

Everyone takes their own road map to get to their final destination. In doing so, we gain priceless experience that grows us as people, and toward our career. With a collection of unique experiences, and continuing education - my journey has led me places I never thought I would be.  Growing both personally and professionally. Every bump, bruise and  success brought me here.

I successfully run my own legal service firm for over a decade. How I arrived here is unconventional. From being heavily involved in hospitality from growing, running and maintaining a restaurant, to corporate buying and careers within the retail world with Fortune 500 companies. My areas of practice are Small Claims, Accident Benefits, WSIB,  Human Rights (Provincial and Federal); Insurance (long /short term disability, accident benefits, claims for injury, etc.); Disability claims - ODSP appeals review, CPP determination, and employment related disputes. Employment law - Ministry of Labour complaints, wrongful and constructive dismissal, etc. Tribunals - police review board, ombudsman’s office and many more. Criminal - summary conviction; and provincial offenses while also being a mediator, and notary.

I love education, which led me back to law. I adored the challenge; and love for fashion marketing, but law has been in my bones my entire life.  I have taken several legal programs to advance my career. There are a lot of amazing things paralegals fight for to expand access to justice, and are growing everyday!

I teach part time law at two colleges. I’m honoured to be part of the education process. I continue my multi disciplinary firm, and have happily won awards this year.  I continue to grow through education advancing my skills. I have a strong draw to community involvement. I am constantly engaging in various charitable initiatives, and attendances to help with those often without a voice.

In summary, what do I do? I am blazing the path by mentoring budding legal minds, and running a business while participating in volunteer positions throughout the community.  No matter where you come from, the road you take to get where you are, or where you are today - you should be proud of your achievements, and goals, and failures because they make you who you are.
